About the studio

The objects we use every day should be both beautiful and practical.

We're a small studio in Pringle Bay, South Africa, founded by two engineers with a love for design and thoughtful problem-solving. We enjoy creating products that are simple, functional, and built to be used for years.

Our first lamp began as a project for our daughter's room. We wanted a light gentle enough for bedtime stories, but without the electrical cords that seemed to attract the curiosity of a determined infant. What started as a solution for her room quickly became a favourite throughout the house.

Before long, the lamp had found its way onto our bedside tables, home office desks and living room shelves. When Ouma comes to visit, it's the only light she wants beside her bed. It became one of those rare objects that worked so well that everyone wanted one (once they discovered it).

Our lamps have become constant companions in our own lives. They move from bedside tables to living rooms, from holiday cottages to camping trips, and from dinner tables to blanket forts to whatever comes next. They go where life takes us.

Today, every lamp is designed and built in Pringle Bay with the same philosophy that inspired the very first one: good engineering, thoughtful design, and warm, comfortable light.

To us, a lamp is first and foremost a tool. It should provide good light. It should be easy to move, easy to charge, and a pleasure to use. We believe that practical objects are beautiful, and that good design is often found in simplicity.

We don't chase trends. Instead, we aspire to timeless design. Beautiful natural materials, combined with high quality engineering create products that simply deserve to exist.
